1. Who We Are

Voiz (voiz.to) is an audio and video transcription service. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Data We Collect

Email address — used to identify your account and deliver results.
Audio / video files — uploaded by you for transcription.
Transcripts and summaries — generated output stored on your behalf.
Telegram user ID — if you use our Telegram bot, your Telegram ID is linked to your account.
Usage data — anonymous event analytics (Google Analytics / GTM) for product improvement.

3. How We Use Your Data

To process your transcription and deliver the result.
To send you a magic link for sign-in or a result notification.
To manage your credit balance and process payments.
We do not use your audio or transcripts to train AI models.
We do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Data Retention

Uploaded audio / video files are deleted within 24 hours of processing.
Files awaiting payment are deleted within 48 hours if payment is not completed.
Transcripts and summaries are stored for 1 year, then deleted automatically.
Your email and credit balance are kept as long as your account is active.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following sub-processors:

Google Gemini AI — processes your audio to generate transcripts, and processes caption text to generate extension summaries (section 8). What is sent to Google's API is governed by Google's data processing terms.
LemonSqueezy — handles credit pack payments. We do not store payment card data.
Telegram — optional bot interface. Governed by Telegram's privacy policy.
Google Analytics / GTM — anonymous usage analytics. No personally identifiable information is included.

6. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hello@voiz.to. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

We also set two first-party attribution cookies, vz_ft and vz_lt, when you arrive through a link that carries campaign parameters (for example from our Chrome extension or one of our articles). vz_ft records the first such link and is never overwritten; vz_lt records the most recent one. They store only the campaign parameters of that link and an anonymous extension identifier — no personal data — and we use them solely to know which channels bring people to Voiz. Both expire after 90 days, are readable only by our server, and are never shared with third parties.

8. Voiz Chrome Extension

This section describes our Chrome extension YouTube Transcript & AI Summary — Voiz (“the extension”). It applies in addition to the rest of this policy. The extension works without a Voiz account: it asks you to sign in to nothing, and it is not connected to any account you may separately hold with us.

What happens on your device only.On a YouTube video page the extension reads the caption tracks that YouTube itself provides for that video and displays them as a transcript. Your transcripts, and any summaries you have generated, are saved in the browser’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device. We have no access to that storage, and it is not synced to us. It stays until you delete a record or remove the extension. The extension never captures audio or video, and never stores audio or video anywhere.

On YouTube pages that list videos — the home page, search results, the recommendations beside a video — the extension adds a small button to each thumbnail and to the player controls, so that you can ask for a transcript or a summary without opening the video first. It reads nothing from those pages and sends nothing from them. Pressing the button on a thumbnail opens that video, exactly as clicking the thumbnail would, and asks for the summary there.

What leaves your device, and when. Only when you click Generate Summary, the extension sends to our server: the caption text of that video, the YouTube video id, the identifier of the caption track (for example “en” or “en.asr”), whether the summary should leave out sponsor segments, and the two anonymous identifiers described below. Nothing is sent in the background, on page load, or for videos you merely open. We use it for one purpose: to generate the summary you asked for and return it to you.

As with any request to a web server, ours also receives the IP address the request came from. We use it only to rate-limit abuse of the free summary allowance. It is held in memory for that check and is not written to our database or attached to the stored request.

The extension also sends a single anonymous signal when your monthly free summary allowance runs out, so we can see how often that happens. It contains only the anonymous install identifier and the fact that the allowance was exhausted.

Retention on our side. A generated summary is cached on our server, keyed by the video and caption track, for 90 days, so that repeat requests for the same video are served without regenerating them. The caption text sent with a request is kept for up to 30 days for debugging and then erased, while the request record itself is deleted after 90 days. The allowance signal is deleted after 90 days as well.

Anonymous identifiers. On installation the extension generates two random values. One (eid) accompanies requests to our server and links from the extension to voiz.to, so we can tell how many people use the extension rather than merely how many requests arrive. The other keys the extension’s local data and its monthly allowance, and reaches our server only as an irreversible hash, which is stored alongside the request for analysis and deleted with it after 90 days. Neither is derived from you, your device, your browser or your Google account; neither is a fingerprint; and we do not use them to identify you or to link your extension use to a Voiz account. Reinstalling the extension produces new values.

Attribution cookies. If you follow a link from the extension to voiz.to, the first-party cookies vz_ft and vz_lt described in section 7 are set. They are analytics-only, expire after 90 days, and are never shared with third parties.

What the extension does not collect. It does not read your browsing history, does not read cookies or data of any site other than the YouTube page you are on, and does not record your clicks, navigation or viewing behaviour. It requests no access to sites beyond YouTube and voiz.to. Support requests started from the extension carry only the extension version — never your transcripts or summaries. This version of the extension contains no analytics library and no behavioural telemetry: it does not track what you watch, search for or click. The only requests it ever makes are the caption request to YouTube, the summary request, and the allowance signal described above — each caused by something you did.

Limited Use. Our use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: we use the data only to provide and improve the transcript and summary features you invoke; we do not sell it; we do not use or transfer it for advertising, ad targeting, personalization or creditworthiness purposes; we do not transfer it to third parties except to the service providers necessary to deliver the feature (see section 5) or where required by law; and no human reads your caption data except where necessary for security, to comply with the law, or with your explicit consent, such as when you ask us to investigate a problem.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
